
Several area sports figures and media members, including former Harlem Globetrotters player and Edwardsville High and Illini star Manny Jackson and former St. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher Jason Isringhausen, will be inducted into the Illinois Sports Hall of Fame on July 25, 2026, during a ceremony in downtown Springfield, executive director Tim Turpin announced this week.

The third induction class is scheduled from 5 to 9 p.m.on July 25, 2026, at the President Abraham Lincoln Doubletree Hotel, with doors opening at 4 p.m. This is the second banquet for the group.

Turpin said Jackson, Isringhausen, basketball player and coach Cuonzo Martin, and media members Steve Porter, Paul Baillargeon and the late Rick Hummel will be among those enshrined.
Isringhausen, a relief pitcher who played high school baseball at Southwestern High, is most known for his time with the St. Louis Cardinals from 2002 to 2008 after signing as a free agent before the 2002 season.
During his time with the team, the Cardinals won the Central Division in 2002, 2004, 2005, and 2006, with World Series appearances in 2004 and 2006, winning the World Series in 2006. He registered a league-leading 47 saves in 2004, tying Lee Smith’s franchise record. He was an All-Star and posted a 2.14 earned run average with 39 saves in 2005 as the Cardinals won 100 games.
