GIRLS BASKETBALL
EDWARDSVILLE 62, COLLINSVILLE 27: Edwardsville led at the break 36-11, and never looked back in taking the Southwestern Conference win at Vergil Fletcher Gym.
Addison Muniz led the Kahoks with six points, while both Aubrey Bordoni and Ashley Janini had five points each.
The Tigers broke a three-game losing skid and are now 12-14, while Collinsville is now 6-23.
BELLEVILLE EAST 51, EAST ST. LOUIS 11: East held a 42-2 halftime lead in going on to win the SWC game at East Side's gym.
Lynajah Smith led the Flyers with eight points, while Javonni Winters scored the other three points.
The Lancers are now 23-4, while East Side is now 2-21.
WATERLOO GIBAULT CATHOLIC 54, BELLEVILLE ALTHOFF CATHOLIC 38: Gibault led at the break 20-12 and went on to win at Glenn Schott Center.
Gabby Dalke was the top scorer for the Crusaders with 17 points, while Reece Distler added 13 points.
The Hawks are now 18-11, while Althoff is 10-17.
In other games played on Tuesday, Dupo won over St. Louis Medicine and Bioscience, one of the city's magnet schools, 47-23, Alton won over Belleville West 73-29. Triad won over Columbia 63-33, Carlyle won over Chester 58-27, and Carlinville won at home over Gillespie 57-45.
BOYS BASKETBALL
ST. LOUIS CHAMINADE COLLEGE PREP CATHOLIC 77, O'FALLON 42: Chaminade led at the half 30-27, but a 24-4 third quarter made the difference, as the Red Devils defeated O'Fallon at home
Ben Akoro led the Panthers with 14 points, while Jayden Dancy added 10 points.
Chaminade is now 18-4, with O'Fallon going to 8-18.
BREESE CENTRAL 59, COLUMBIA 41: Central held a slight lead 24-20 at halftime, and picked up its play in the second half, outscoring Columbia 35-21 to take the win at home.
Eddie Smajic hit for 18 points to lead the Eagles, while Brody Landgraf picked up 16 points.
The Cougars are now 20-7, while Columbia goes to 21-6,
BELLEVILLE WEST 49, ALTON 47: West pulled out a win over visiting Alton at the West gym.
J'Dyn Lloyd led the Maroons with 17 points, while both Amauri Fenton and Micah May came up 10 points each.
West is now 18-8, while the Redbirds slipped to 16-10.
EAST ST. LOUIS 84, BELLEVILLE EAST 65: East St. Louis came back from its East Coast trip, winning twice in New Jersey, but trailed to East at halftime 36-34. The second half saw the Flyers outscore the Lancers 40-29 to take another step closer to the Southwestern Conference crown at East's gym.
Jamison White led East Side with 33 points, whileDevin Houston hit for 18 points, Alex Johnson had 11 points, and Philip Jones hit for 10 points. Troy Alexander had 24 points for East, while Kenny Wilson scored 16 points
The Flyers are now 24-3, while the Lancers slip to 9-16.
FATHER MCGIVNEY CATHOLIC 66, CENTRALIA CHRIST OUT ROCK LUTHERAN 30: McGivney bounded back from a tough loss last week to Marquette Catholic to take the Gateway Metro Conference win on the road.
Chase Jansen led the Griffins with18 points, while Owen Kolesa came up with 13 points.
McGivney is now 16-12, while the Silver Stallions slip to 2-24.
STAUNTON 79, PIASA SOUTHWESTERN 33: Staunton jumped out to a 42-17 halftime lead, leading the rest of the way through in taking a South Central Conference win at Southwestern.
Connor Wood led the Piasa Birds with nine points, while Carter Watson had eight points.
The Bulldogs are now 23-3, while Southwestern goes to 12-15.
CARLINVILLE 56, GILLESPIE 37: In another SCC contest, Carlinville went out to a 28-18 lead at the interval, going on to take the win at the Gillespie Pit.
Sawyer Smith led the Cavaliers with 22 points, while Tristan Thompson scored 18 points.
Carlinville is now 15-11, while the Miners go to 2-24.
CARROLLTON 53, JERSEY 50: In a very close decision, Carrollton took the win over visiting Jersey.
Abe Kribs led the Panthers with 21 points, with Shane Lamer having 14 points, and Andrew Koenig had 10 points.
The Hawks go to 14-12, while Jersey is now 6-21.
