WOOD RIVER - The Riverbend East Rotary Club has recognized East Alton-Wood River High School students Morgan Eberlin and Noah Norton as its January Service Above Self award winners, citing their involvement and leadership in school activities, according to information provided by Rick Hooks.
The club recently presented Service Above Self certificates to Eberlin and Norton. A photo provided with the announcement shows Club President Mark Smith presenting the certificates to the students.
“Morgan exemplifies the true meaning of Service Above Self through her commitment to both her school and her peers,” the announcement said. It said she is involved in Drama Club, National Honor Society, Senior Mentors and Spirit Club, and “consistently gives her time and energy to support others and strengthen the school community.”
The announcement also described her as a leader who mentors younger students, contributes behind the scenes in Drama Club, and helps “create a positive and inclusive school environment through Spirit Club.” It said her “willingness to step up, help wherever needed, and put the needs of others first makes her a trusted leader and role model.”
“Noah exemplifies the Rotary motto, Service Above Self, through his commitment to excellence, leadership, and positive impact within our school community,” the announcement said. It said Norton is a dedicated member of the Drama Club who “invests countless hours both on stage and behind the scenes,” and that his involvement reflects “teamwork, responsibility, and a willingness to serve the greater good of the group.”
The announcement said Norton’s “ability to lead by example, support those around him, and commit himself fully to both his studies and activities truly embodies the spirit of Service Above Self.”
