During the regular meeting of the Alton Community Unit School District #11 Board of Education on Feb. 17, 2026, the Board unanimously approved the appointment of Jalen Williams to the role. Williams noted his excitement to step into the position.
“My goal is to help every student become the best version of themselves, both in the classroom and through athletics,” Williams said. “I believe in developing student athletes who understand that academics come first, character matters, and effort is nonnegotiable.”
Williams has a bachelor’s degree in K–12 Physical Education and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership. He began his career in 2022 as a Physical Education and Health Teacher at Pontiac Junior High School, where he also served as the athletic director.
He expressed his intent to work with the high school’s athletic director to ensure the middle school’s program feeds into Alton High School’s. He emphasized that everything he does is with the best interests of students in mind, and he looks forward to taking on a new role in the community.
“I am committed to aligning our middle school and high school athletic programs so we are on the same page with continuity, bringing a winning mindset that positively impacts our coaches, students and community,” he added.
