FERGUSON - A 16-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of Shannon O’Brien, a 28-year-old woman who was found with at least one apparent gunshot injury in Ferguson, Mo., St. Louis County police said on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026.
O'Brien was a graduate of Edwardsville High School and has family in the Edwardsville area. O’Brien was identified Feb. 2, 2026, as the woman killed in the shooting, police said. She lived in the 4300 block of De Tonty Street in St. Louis.
The suspect was arrested Friday, Feb. 13, 2026, and remanded to the custody of the St. Louis County Family Court on charges of second-degree murder, armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon, according to the St. Louis County Police Department. Police said they had no further details to release.
Detectives with the St. Louis County Police Department Bureau of Crimes Against Persons have been investigating the homicide in the 1700 block of Windward Court in Ferguson.
Officers from the Ferguson Police Department responded to a call for shots fired just before 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, in the 1700 block of Windward Court, police said. Responding officers located an adult female suffering from at least one apparent gunshot injury, and she died at the scene.
A previously announced arrest was made Sunday, Feb. 1, when a 17-year-old male suspect was arrested and remanded to family court custody on the same charges, according to a St. Louis County Police Department information released on Feb. 9, 2026.
