
EDWARDSVILLE - Chase Schumacher, Blake Huneke, and Reed Wolfe all scored, and it was Wolfe's second-period goal that proved to be the winner, as Edwardsville once again won the Mississippi Valley Club Hockey Association's Class 2A championship with a 3-2 win over Belleville in game two of the best-of-three series Thursday night at RP Lumber Center in Edwardsville.

It's the third straight championship for the Tigers since rejoining the MVCHA, and the 15th title in the program's history.
Edwardsville scored first on an unassisted goal by Schumacher at 12:41 of the first period, the only goal of the stanza, as the Tigers took a 1-0 lead. Belleville tied the game at 7:55 of the second, when Miles Browne scored, assisted by Grant Hubert, to tie the game at 1-1.
Huneke scored at 8:50 of the second, assisted by Wolfe, to give Edwardsville the lead back at 2-1. Wolfe then scored what proved to be the winner at 11:20, assisted by Jackson Ruf, to put the Tigers up 3-1 after two periods.
Belleville pulled it within 3-2 at 4:47 of the third period on a goal scored by Arturs Zile, assisted by Browne, and tried to tie the game and force a shootout, but Evan Stark stood tall in goal to preserve the win and the championship for the Tigers.
It was a penalty-filled game, with Belleville called for 12 penalties for 32 minutes, and Edwardsville penalized nine times for 18 minutes.
Edwardsville winds up the MVCHA season 25-3-0.
