

WOOD RIVER - KayLynn Buttry signed to continue her academic and basketball career at Greenville University on Friday morning, marking a milestone after a record-setting senior season at East Alton-Wood River High School.

Buttry’s senior year included 19.5 points per game and 9.8 rebounds per game. She scored 624 points, the highest single-season total in EAWR history, and finished her career with 1,533 points, listed as second all-time at EAWR for boys or girls.
She is a Midwest Members Credit Union Female Athlete of the Month for East Alton-Wood River.
Her season and career totals were cited as evidence of “years of dedication and hard work,” and her “consistency, competitiveness, and commitment to excellence” were credited with leaving “a lasting mark on the EAWR basketball program," East Alton-Wood River Athletic Director Mark Beatty said.
The announcement said Buttry’s impact “goes beyond the numbers,” adding that she “has represented EAWR with pride and has set the standard for what it means to be an Oiler."
