Glen Carbon Approves Shake Shack Site Plan

GLEN CARBON – Glen Carbon residents are one step closer to welcoming a Shake Shack location.

Trustees unanimously approved a site plan for Shake Shack at their meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2026.

Community Development Director Erika Heil said the future fast-casual eatery will be located in Orchard Town Center and will feature a single-lane drive-thru. She said their business model is mostly based on being a dine-in service, so developers are not expecting major traffic at the site to warrant a two-lane drive-thru.

The official site plan from Thouvenot, Wade & Moerchen (TWM) Inc. shows a 3,100 square foot building with one drive-thru lane and 64 parking spaces, including 3 Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessible parking spaces. The site will be built on approximately 1.21 acres on Outparcel #14 in Orchard Town Center, next to Dick’s Sporting Goods.
