Sufian S. Shihadeh, 54, of Alton, was charged on Feb. 17, 2026 with a Class 4 felony count of aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude a peace officer and a Class A misdemeanor count of driving while under the influence.
Shihadeh allegedly knowingly attempted to flee from an Alton Police officer who had signaled for Shihadeh to stop the vehicle he was driving on Feb. 15, 2026, and disobeyed two or more traffic signals during his attempted flight from the officer.
At the time of the offense, Shihadeh was reportedly under the influence of alcohol while operating a GMC Yukon motor vehicle on Washington Avenue in Alton.
The Alton Police Department presented the case against Shihadeh, who was granted pretrial release from custody.
In a separate DUI case, 45-year-old Anthony J. Ingles of Godfrey was charged on Feb. 18, 2026 with a Class 2 felony count of aggravated driving under the influence.
Ingles is accused of operating a 1992 Chevrolet S10 on Fosterburg Road in Fosterburg Township, Madison County, while under the influence of alcohol. Charging documents note Ingles had previously been convicted of driving under the influence on two prior occasions, including a 2005 conviction in Macoupin County and a 2011 conviction in Madison County, this being his third such violation.
Ingles was also ordered released from custody pending trial in the case presented by the Illinois State Police.
All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
