CARROLLTON - Calhoun edged Pawnee 63-61 on Friday night, Feb. 27, 2026, to capture the Carrollton 1A Regional crown, led by 25 points from Jack Zipprich, as the teams traded runs across four quarters.
Calhoun outscored Pawnee 15-10 in the first quarter and took a 31-27 lead into halftime after a 16-17 second quarter. Pawnee moved in front in the third, 46-43, behind a 19-12 period, but Calhoun closed with a 21-15 fourth quarter to secure the two-point win.

Zipprich scored 25 for Calhoun, with Lane Eilerman adding 19 points and Blake Nolte 12 points. Easton Wallendorf had 3 points, and Jake Brannan added 2 points.
Pawnee was led by Jankousky with 23 points. Schultz scored 15, Greer had 14, Ward added 6 and Lederbrand scored 3.
Both teams made five 3-pointers. Calhoun’s Nolte hit three from beyond the arc and Zipprich made two. For Pawnee, Schutt made three 3s and Jankosky added two.
Calhoun’s record is 27-5. Calhoun meets Mt. Sterling (Brown County) at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Nokomis in the sectional semifinals. Mt. Sterling defeated Springfield (Calvary) 78-70 Friday night to advance.
