The Wood River Police Department also congratulated Woodruff in a social media announcement the following morning, noting his previous role in the department as a telecommunicator and his upcoming Police Academy training.

“Officer Woodruff will begin training at the Police Academy in the coming weeks and, upon successful completion, will return to the department for field training,” the department announced. “Please join us in wishing Officer Woodruff the very best during his training.
