Alton Police Welcome New Officer After Academy Graduation

Officer Mathew Wilson completed training at Illinois State Police Academy and begins field training in Alton, preparing for patrol duties with experienced officers.

ALTON - The Alton Police Department has announced that Officer Mathew Wilson graduated from the Illinois State Police Academy last Friday, Feb. 27, 2026, and will work alongside officers on patrol.

“The Alton Police Department is proud to share that Officer Mathew Wilson graduated from the Illinois State Police Academy last Friday,” Alton Police Chief Jarrett Ford said in a statement.

Chief Ford said Wilson “will now begin our Field Training Program here in Alton, Illinois, where he’ll work alongside our officers as he gets started on patrol.”

“Please join us in congratulating Officer Wilson and welcoming him to the Alton community,” the statement said.
