GODFREY – Godfrey officials are seeking nearly $200,000 in grant funds for various upgrades to the village’s parks.
Trustees unanimously approved a resolution authorizing Parks and Recreation Director Chris Logan to apply for Park Enhancement Program (PEP) grant funds from Madison County at their March 3, 2026 Village Board meeting.
The Village of Godfrey is applying for up to $199,961 in grant funds for the following projects:
Repair or replacement of the Glazebrook Park pedestrian bridge
Repairs to the concession stand for the Great Godfrey Corn Maze
Construction of a new concession stand for the Godfrey Soccer Complex
Phase 3 of the F.E. Widman Trail project
According to the resolution, if the cost of these projects exceeds the amount of PEP grant funds awarded to Godfrey, the village agrees to fund their completion from another source.
Parks and Recreation Director Chris Logan wrote in a memo to village trustees that the Glazebrook Park pedestrian bridge and Corn Maze concession stand repairs will likely be fully covered by PEP grants. He said any remaining grant funds will either go towards the Widman Trail Phase 3 project or building the new Soccer Complex concession stand.
Logan added that the nearly $200,000 in PEP grant funds made available for the county’s 2026 grant cycle is “much more than previous years and gives the Village much more optionality.”
