Calhoun Narrowly Falls to Brown County in Sectional Clash

HARDIN - Calhoun’s season ended Wednesday night in the IHSA Class 1A Nokomis Sectional with a two-point loss to Brown County.

Brown County beat Calhoun 48-46 on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at Nokomis. Calhoun closed the season with a 27-6 overall record.

Brown County led 19-14 after the first quarter, but Calhoun closed the gap in the second as Brown County scored four points in the period. Brown County took a 38-34 lead into the fourth and held on for the win.

Jack Zipprich led Calhoun with 15 points, followed by Lane Eilerman with 12 points. Easton Wallendorf scored seven, while Blake Nolte and Jack Goode each had five. Charlie Matthews added two.

Brown County was led by Bradley Markert with 17 points, Michael Kassing with 14, and Jackson McNeff with 13 points. Wyatt Kassing, Henry Ingram, and Connor Flynn each scored two.

Calhoun made seven 3-pointers, with Zipprich, Eilerman, and Wallendorf each hitting two and Nolte adding one. Brown County made one 3-pointer, from Michael Kassing.

Calhoun was called for 22 fouls, with Goode and Brannan fouling out. Brown County was called for 14 fouls.

Routt plays Brown County at 7 p.m. on Friday at Nokomis for the 1A Sectional title. Routt defeated Bunker Hill 67-50 in the other sectional semifinal game on Tuesday.
