GODFREY – Four different plans for a future recreation center in Godfrey will soon be made public.
Trustee Gerard Fischer, who also chairs the Godfrey Recreation Center Committee, announced at the March 3, 2026 Village Board meeting that four architectural firms will give presentations next week on their plans for a potential recreation center in the village.
Two presentations are set for next Tuesday, March 10, followed by another two presentations on Thursday, March 12, both at 1 p.m. at the Godfrey fire station at 3023 Godfrey Road. Both events are open to the public.
Each firm will have 90 minutes to make their presentations. Firms giving presentations include FGM Architects, and Farnsworth Group on March 10 followed by Baysinger Architects and AAIC Inc. on March 12.
Fischer said the purpose of these presentations is to narrow down the search for a recreation center architect down to one firm, who would then make a presentation to the Village Board at their March 18 meeting. The board’s next meeting was moved from Tuesday, March 17 to accommodate the Madison County 2026 primary elections, since Village Hall is an early voting site.
Trustees voted 3-2 in April of 2024 to allow the Parks and Recreation Department to seek proposals for cost estimates and potential designs of a future recreation center. At their Jan. 20, 2026 meeting, trustees voted to issue a Request for Qualifications for architectural services for a recreation center.
