EDWARDSVILLE — Metro East Lutheran senior Landyn Jefferson is being recognized as BJ’s Printables Male Athlete of the Month after standing out in both eight-man football and basketball during the 2025-2026 school year.

Jefferson, a 6-foot-3 senior, drew high praise for his defensive play in football from Metro East Lutheran head coach Mike Koch.

“I am biased, but I did think he was the best in eight-man football on the defensive side of the ball,” Koch said. “He was solid each week. He always gives the quarterback pressure and literally took the center and guard out of the equation with his pressure as a linebacker. He was so solid.”

In basketball, Jefferson has been a key contributor the past two seasons under coach Anthony Smith. He was strong on the boards under the basket and was also a top defensive player on the court.

Jefferson has committed to MidAmerican Nazarene University to play football.
