OSF Medical Group earns ADA recognition for Excellence in Diabetes Education and Support

ALTON – OSF Medical Group’s diabetes and endocrinology program has been recognized by the American Diabetes Association (ADA) for Quality Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support. This recognition affirms that OSF Medical Group consistently meets the ADA’s national standards for high-quality diabetes care, providing patients with effective self-management education and support.

“This recognition from the American Diabetes Association is an important validation of the work our team does every day to support patients living with diabetes,” said Isha McConkey, DO, managing medical director with OSF Medical Group. “Diabetes management requires education, partnership and ongoing support. Earning ADA recognition confirms that our program meets the highest national standards and reflects our commitment to equipping patients with the knowledge and confidence they need to take control of their health and live fuller, healthier lives.”

Diabetes education is not one-size-fits-all or a one-time event. Through the diabetes and endocrinology program at OSF Medical Group, patients receive personalized education and ongoing support tailored to their needs, goals and lifestyle. The program provides guidance on managing diabetes through healthy eating, physical activity, medication management and blood sugar monitoring, while also addressing emotional well-being. Research shows that when a patient receives thorough diabetes education they can improve blood sugar control, reduce complications and get support to achieve better overall health outcomes.

This recognition is valid until July 1, 2029.
