Organizers are inviting families to bring children for an afternoon of activities centered on an egg hunt featuring “colorful eggs” and “prize-filled eggs,” with children divided into age groups on separate fields.

Godfrey Mayor Mike McCormick said the Park and Recreation Department does an excellent job with the Easter egg event and the many other family activities in the village during the spring and summer.

"We do a wonderful job with the family events," he said. "The Easter Egg-Stravaganza is sort of the kickoff of spring. Hopefully, it means our days of snow are gone and good weather is right around the corner."

The Easter Bunny is scheduled to arrive at 1 p.m. The egg hunt will begin at 2:15 p.m. and continue until all eggs are found. Games, crafts, and pictures with the Easter Bunny will be available until 4 p.m.

Donations of non-perishable food items will be accepted for local community food banks.

Mayor McCormick pointed out that the Village of Godfrey is working on making the Fourth of July festivities in the community even bigger than normal in 2026.

"This is the 250th anniversary of our country, and we would like to light up the skies a little bit more," he said.

Age group assignments for the Easter Egg-Stravaganza hunt are:

  • Ages 0-2: Field D, with one parent on the field to help
  • Ages 3-4: Field C, with one parent on the field to help
  • Ages 5-7: Field B, no parents allowed on the field
