Gunshot Victim Identified In Belleville Shooting

A victim was shot and transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead; suspects fled but were captured after a vehicle crash.

BELLEVILLE - The victim in the tragic shooting situation that evolved at 3:50 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, 2026, in the 5800 block of Belleville Crossing has been identified by the St. Clair County Coroner's Office as Montavion Conrad, 20, of Belleville.

The shooting victim was pronounced dead at 4:17 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at Belleville Memorial Hospital.

Upon arrival, Belleville Police officers said they located a 20-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers and EMS attempted to render first aid; the victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Witnesses were able to identify a suspect vehicle, which was located a short time later by a Belleville Police officer.

The vehicle fled from officers and later crashed in the 6600 block of Old St. Louis Road. Two suspects ran on foot from the vehicle. Multiple officers from numerous local agencies set up a perimeter of the area. Two suspects were taken into custody and are being held at the Belleville Police Department.

This is an active and ongoing investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
