JERSEYVILLE — Jersey Community Unit School District No. 100 has recognized high school student Cloud Sutton, the district’s Illinois State Board of Education student advisory member, for representing the district at the Student Advisory Council’s Student Summit 2026 in Springfield.
The Jersey Community School District said Sutton and his group presented on school culture and chronic absenteeism, sharing “important insights and ideas to help improve schools across Illinois.” The district also thanked Dr. Kate Sievers and Nick Wyatt for attending the summit and supporting the work.
In a statement shared by the district, Sutton described the summit as “an incredibly rejuvenating experience.”
“Truly, the topics — positive and negative — that our audiences had covered were, in most cases, something I didn't know or think of when it comes to advising education legislation,” Sutton said.
“From how school architecture affects students' mental health, to how awesome having a variety of school clubs can be for inclusivity. It was honestly one of the greatest events I have gone to. The future of Illinois is in good hands!”
Sutton is the highest-ranking officer in two school clubs and a participant in the 2026 Jersey County CEO Program. He plans to pursue his law degree and become a politician.
