Stassi, Shields, Rider Stand Out In Jacksonville Indoor Meet

JACKSONVILLE - Roxana's Gianna Stassi and Civic Memorial's Kaylee Shields and Sara Rider are all off to strong indoor track and field starts.

Stassi blazed home in first place on Friday, March 13, 2026, at an indoor meet at Illinois College track in Jacksonville with a time of 12:07.64.

Shields won the pole vault, clearing 3.23 meters, and Rider won the triple jump by leaping 10.02 meters. Rider was fifth in the 50 hurdles (10.06) and Jersey's Neely Goetten was sixth (10.09).

Kwanza Henderson of Collinsville was third (26.48) and Belle Peterbaugh of Jersey was ninth in the 200 meters (27.95).

Toby Hawkes of Collinsville was fourth in the 400 meters (1:03.57); Stassi was seventh (1:04.28).

Roxana's Nova Shaw was third in the 800 (2:38.22). Grace Jansen of Althoff won the 1,600 (5:40.31). Jersey's Taylor Woodring was sixth (13:31.32).

Jami Jones of Marquette was fourth in the shot put (10.06 meters). Jaylin Roach of Roxana was fourth in the high jump (1.50 meters). Dariana Morris of Collinsville was second in the long jump (4.94 meters). Leah Newton was fourth in the triple jump (9.88 meters).

CM was fifth with 39 points; Roxana was seventh in the girls meet with 32.5 points; Jersey had 14 points and Marquette totaled 8 points.

CM girls placed third in the 4 x 400 relay (4:28.82) and Roxana was fourth (4:29.25). Jersey was fifth (4:33.55).

Boys Results

Mascoutah won the boys meet at Illinois College with 115 points. Roxana posted 46 points and Alton had 44 points.

Isaiah Elliott-Barnes of Alton was seventh with a time of 7.33 in the 60 meters.

Jamir Cornell of Roxana was second in the 400 meters (53.30).

Alton standout Hank McClaine placed second in the 800 (2:02.44), and Anthony Hardin of Roxana was third (2:06.05). Shells teammate Easton Johnston was fifth (2:08.16). Ben Helfrich of Alton was seventh (2:08.49).

Adam Jansen of Althoff was third in the 3,200 (10:29.16); Nolan Crump of Roxana placed fifth (10:39.77).

Alphonso Fletcher of Alton was fourth in the 60 Hurdles (9.16).

The Roxana 4 x 400 relay of Cornell, Hardin, Johnston and Peyton Pride was second (3:40.93).

Roxana's 4 x 800 relay of Rylan Bisby, Noah Crump, Joshua Ervin and Pride was also second (9:06.35).

Alton was fourth in the 4 x 800 relay - Isaiah Cooper, Ezra Plefger, Elijah Hartmann and Jaxson Duke (9:28.96).
