Strang Secures Jersey County Treasurer Nomination, Other 2026 Primary Results

JERSEYVILLE – Rebecca Strang has been named the Republican nominee for Jersey County Treasurer, according to unofficial primary election results released the night of Tuesday, March 17, 2026.

Strang, who serves as the current County Treasurer, secured 71% of the vote against challenger Jonathan Goetten, who received 29% of the vote with 100% of precincts reporting.

Strang will run unopposed in the race for Treasurer in the Nov. 3, 2026 general elections, as no Democrat candidate has filed.

Jersey County Board Results

In District 1, incumbent Republican David Crone and Democrat Marci Collins both secured their respective party’s nomination. The two are set to face each other in the Nov. 3, 2026 general elections, when they will compete for the one open board seat for District 1.

In District 2, another incumbent Republican, Jared Mills, and Democrat challenger Fredricka “Freddy” Hatfill were both unopposed in seeking their party’s nomination. They are now set to compete for the open District 2 board seat in the general elections this November.

Three Republicans sought their party’s nomination for the two open District 3 board seats. Barbara Senger-Bollinger and incumbent Kara Ontis emerged with the two highest vote tallies, with Senger-Bollinger earning 38% of the vote and Ontis earning 36%. Craig Thomas Sondke lost his nomination bid with 26% of the vote.

Also in District 3, Democrat William Goetten was unopposed in securing his party’s nomination and will face Senger-Bollinger and Ontis for the two open board seats this November.

With two open seats in District 4 and two candidates from each party, incumbent Republican Chairman Gary Krueger and Republican Douglas B. Figge Jr. are now set to face Democrats Bryan Lankford and Alan Milton in the November general election.

No Contest For Clerk, Brighton Public Question

Republican Peggy A. Portwood was uncontested in the Jersey County Clerk race and is set to replace current County Clerk Pam Warford.

Voters in the Village of Brighton overwhelmingly rejected a Public Question on whether the village should be allowed to supply electricity to residents and businesses who do not opt out of such a program. 65% voted in favor, while 35% voted against it.
