EAST ST. LOUIS - Illinois State Police units and officers from several surrounding agencies responded late Saturday to reports of a large gathering in the street near 46th and State Street in East St. Louis, according to a state police spokesperson.

Trooper Caleb Billingsley of the Illinois State Police Public Information Office said the response occurred at 9:46 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2026.

About 20 minutes later, the gathering began to disperse, and state police units cleared the area," Billingsley said.

Granite City, Glen Carbon, and Pontoon Beach were also called to the scene for backup, along with some other area law enforcement agencies.
