O'FALLON 9, OAK PARK-RIVER FOREST 8: (8 INNINGS) In an Illinois Prep Baseball Report kickoff showcase game, O'Fallon held a 7-2 lead after three innings, but OPRF rallied to tie the game in the top of the seventh with five runs, then took an 8-7 lead in the top of the eighth. The Panthers came back with two in the home half of the eighth to take the win.

Sam McCollom led O'Fallon with three hits, while Dylan Jantz struck out two while on the mound.

The Panthers are now 1-2, while the Huskies go to 3-1.

WATERLOO GIBAULT CATHOLIC 7, ROXANA 4: In the first game of a cluster at Roxana City Park, Gibault scored three runs in the fourth and three more in the seventh to help take the win over the Shells.

Max Autery had two hits for the Shells, while Dalton Carriker fanned six batters on the mound.

BELLEVILLE EAST 7, PLAINFIELD NORTH 6: East scored five runs in the fourth, and twice more in the fifth, and it was enough as a North rally fell short at East's park.

Angus Gartland led the Lancers with two hits and two RBIs, while Adam Smith struck out four while on the mound.

East is now 1-0-1, while the Tigers go to 1-1.

JERSEY 15, WATERLOO GIBAULT CATHOLIC 6: In the second game of a cluster at Roxana City Park, Jersey scored three runs in both the first and fifth, and nine more in the second to take the win over Gibault.

Both Bryce Hutchens and Shane Lamer had two hits and three RBIs each for the Panthers, while Jude Jones struck out three.

The Hawks are now 1-3 on the campaign.

EADS, TENN. BRIARCREST CHRISTIAN 9, FATHER MCGIVNEY CATHOLIC 1: On the final day of a tournament at the USA Baseball Complex in Memphis, Briarcrest went out to a 3-1 lead after two innings and went on to the win over McGivney.

Issac Wendler had two hits for the Griffins, while Jacob Danco, Brendan Kayser, and Grant Reed all struck out one batter each.

The Saints are now 5-6, while McGivney goes to 2-2.

PARIS, TENN. HENRY COUNTY 6, BELLEVILLE ALTHOFF CATHOLIC 5: In the same tournament in Memphis, Althoff rallied from a 5-1 deficit to score three runs in the sixth, and once in the seventh to tie the game, but Henry County pushed across the winning run in the bottom of the seventh to win a squeaker.

Aiden Quinn led the Crusaders with two hits and two RBIs, while Brock Nordstrom struck out five on the mound.

The Patriots are now 5-3, while Althoff goes to 0-4.

ROXANA 12, JERSEY 11: In the final game of a cluster at Roxana City Park, in a slugfest, Jersey scored 10 runs in the middle three innings, then once more in the seventh, but Roxana countered with five runs and three in the seventh to take the win.

Nick Miles led the Shells with three hits and four RBIs, while Dean Cundari struck out three on the mound. The Panthers saw Abe Kribs come up with three hits and four RBIs, while both Hayden LaPlant and Brady Maxeiner fan one each.

Both Roxana and Jersey are now 2-1.

In other games played on Saturday, Joliet West defeated Freeurg 3-0, but the Midgets bounced back later in the day to win over Dunlap 6-2, Huntley won over Alton 9-2, Winnetka New Trier upended Edwardsville 7-3, Waterloo got past Monticello 7-6, then blasted Murphysboro 25-2, Breese Central defeated Salem 14-0, then lost to Carterville 1-0, Algonquin Jacobs won over Collinsville 1-0, and Valmeyer split a pair in Jacksonville, winning over Princeville 11-1, then lost to New Berlin 10-0.

GIRLS SOCCER

COLUMBIA 5, MASCOUTAH 0: Hayden Cleveland and Alaina Rains both had braces (two goals each), while Kinley Traxler also scored at Columbia took all three points at home over Mascouah.

Addy Star had four saves in goal, Hope Schwartz made three saves, and Chole Klopmeyer had one save as the three goalies all shared the clean sheet.

The Eagles are now 2-0-0, while the Indians start off 0-1-0.

COLLINSVILLE 8, STAUNTON 0: Peyton Duhadway had a hat trick, while Allison Barnes had a brace (two goals), and Karley Call, Melissa Garcia, and Ryelan Judiscak all scored in Collinsville's win over Staunton at Kahok Stadium.

Paige Bohnemefer didn't have to make a save in recording the clean sheet.

The Kahoks open the season 1-0-0, while the Bulldogs go to 0-2-0.

BELLEVILLE ALTHOFF CATHOLIC 1, ROCHESTER 0: Britt Wilhelm's first-half strike was all Althoff needed to take the win over Rochester at George Martz Field.

Vera Neville had six saves in goal to record the clean sheet for the Crusaders, who are now 2-0-0, while the Rockets go to 0-2-0.

In other matches played on Saturday, Peoria Notre Dame Catholic won at Triad 3-0, Granite City lost to visiting Naperville Central 4-0, Springfield won over Father McGivney Catholic 4-1, Chatham Glenwood and O'Fallon played to a 0-0 draw, Alton won over Trenton Wesclin 4-1, and Marquette Catholic defeated Marion 2-0.

SOFTBALL

O'FALLON 1, TRIAD 0: O'Fallon scored the game's only run in the top of the first, and made it stand up in winning at Triad.

Kennedy Clark threw a no-hitter at the Knights, striking out 12, while both Kylie Lehde and Sam Espirritu had two hits each. Abby Harper struck out eight while in the circle.

Triad goes to 2-3.

FREEBURG 16, O'FALLON 1: In a second game played later in the day, Freeburg scored five runs in the first and second innings en route to the win over O'Fallon.

Lehde had two hits and the Panthers' only RBI, while Eme Miller struck out three in the circle.

O'Fallon is now 3-1.

MARION 1, BELLEVILLE EAST 0: Marion pushed across the game's only run in the top of the sixth to win at East.

Priya Bolling, Addie Kramkowski, and Abi Monroe had the hits for the Lancers, while Monroe struck out two while in the circle.

The Wildcats are now 3-1.

CHATHAM GLENWOOD 10-15, BELLEVILLE WEST 0-0: Glenwood held West to a total of four hits and no runs in sweeping a doubleheader at Glenwood.

In the first game, Elaina Jenkins had the Maroons' only hit, also striking out two in the circle. The nightcap saw Jenkins, Molly Mehrtens, and Ella Weaver have West's hits, while Kara Kramer fanned two in the circle.

The Titans are now 3-0, while the Maroons go to 1-2.

BELLEVILLE EAST 9, ST. JOSEPH-OGDEN 2: In a game that was a part of a cluster, East went out to a 7-2 lead after three innings, going on to a win over St. Joseph-Ogden.

Zoe Peters led the Lancers with three hits and three RBIs, while Alexis Sarginson fanned two in the circle.

East is now 3-3, while the Spartans are now 2-2.

FREEBURG 7, TRIAD 5: In the final game of a cluster, Triad scored four runs in the third to take a 5-1 lead, but Freeburg countered with four runs of their own in the fifth, and scored twice more in the sixth to defeat the Knights in Troy.

Abby Harper had two hits and an RBI for Triad, and also struck out three while in the circle.

The Midgets are now 3-3, while the Knights go to 2-3.

In other games played on Saturday, Edwardsville got past Red Bud 5-4, Sparta nipped New Athens 3-2, and Waterloo won over DeKalb 10-0, then defeated Naperville Central 14-6.
