EDWARDSVILLE — The Gillespie Miners stayed within striking distance early but were shut out Monday afternoon as Edwardsville earned a 5-0 win in a girls softball game on March 23, 2026, in Edwardsville.

Edwardsville scored two runs in the first inning, and the game remained tight as Gillespie held the Tigers scoreless until the fifth. Edwardsville added one run in the fifth and scored two more in the sixth to secure the win.

Ava Parish, Paxton Reid, Ava Rakers and Amari Vickery each had a hit for Gillespie.

The Miners moved to 3-1 and are scheduled to return to action Wednesday at home against Nokomis and Friday at home against Jersey.

Gillespie’s wins this season have come against Pawnee (6-5), Carrollton (4-2) and Alton (12-2).
