
ALTON – Alton Police have charged a local sex offender with failing to register for over six months.

Nathan A. Walker, 26, listed as homeless out of Alton, was charged on March 19, 2026 with a Class 3 felony count of unlawful failure to register as a sex offender.
Walker has allegedly failed to register on a weekly basis with the Alton Police Department as required under the Sex Offender Registration Act, having last registered on Sept. 15, 2025.
The Illinois State Police Sex Offender Registry shows Walker’s current status remains “non-compliant” as a 10-year registrant who first registered on Oct. 13, 2019.
The registry also shows Walker was previously convicted of criminal sexual abuse in Jersey County. Walker was reportedly 18 years old at the time of the offense, while the victim was 14.

The Alton Police Department presented the latest case against Walker, who was ordered released from custody pending trial.
All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
