Terry L. Baine Jr., 42, of Wood River, was charged on March 11, 2026 with one count each of aggravated domestic battery (a Class 2 felony) and domestic battery (a Class A misdemeanor).
On March 10, 2026, Baine allegedly knowingly committed an act of domestic battery against a family or household member, causing the victim bodily harm without legal justification.
The victim reported “multiple incidents of being abused” by Baine, and officers have responded to multiple prior incidents involving the two, according to a petition to deny Baine’s pretrial release from custody filed by the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office.
The petition also notes that at the time of this latest offense, Baine was out on pretrial release from a domestic violence case filed earlier this year involving the same victim.
Another Wood River man was charged in a separate domestic battery case filed on March 17, 2026. 39-year-old Brandon W. McCurry faces a Class 2 felony count of aggravated domestic battery and a Class A misdemeanor count of domestic battery.
The charges stem from an incident on March 16, 2026, when McCurry is accused of knowingly causing bodily harm to a household or family member without legal justification by committing an act of domestic battery.
The Wood River Police Department presented both cases against Baine and McCurry. Baine currently remains in custody at the Madison County Jail, while McCurry has been ordered released from custody pending trial.
All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
