ROXANA 5, GILLESPIE 2: Roxana scored four goals in the second half to break a 1-1 halftime tie and take the three points over Gillespie in a tournament at Carlinville's Loveless Park.
Gianna Stassi had a double brace (four goals), and Savannah Cline scored the goals for the Shells, while Sidney Ufert had eight saves in goal.
Roxana is now 3-1-0, while the Miners go to 2-1-0.
COLLINSVILLE 4, ALTON 0: Ryelan Judiscak had a brace (two goals), while both Karley Call and Peyton Duhadway also scored in Collinsville's win over Alton at Kahok Stadium.
Paige Bohnemeier had three saves in goal to record he clean sheet for the Kahoks.
Collinsville goes to 3-0-0, while the Redbirds are now 1-2-0.
EDWARDSVILLE 3, BELLEVILLE WEST 1: Gabby Thompson hit for a brace (two goals), and Anna Maxim also scored as new Edwardsville head coach Justin Bernaix gained his first varsity win with the three points over West at Bob Goalby Field.
Emma Birkenmeyer got the win in goal.
The Tigers are now 1-0-1, while the Maroons go to 2-1-0.
In other games played on Thursday, Father McGivney Catholic won over Marquette Catholic 3-0, Waterloo Gibault Catholic shut out Trenton Wesclin 7-0, Highland topped Mt. Vernon 5-2, Waterloo won over Freeburg 6-1, O'Fallon bested Belleville East 5-1, Granite City won at Mascoutah 6-1.
SOFTBALL
HIGHLAND 18, GRANITE CITY 10: Highland scored in every inning but the sixth, plating seven runs in the seventh, offsetting a pair of five-run innings for Granite in both the third and fourth, to take the win at the Nelson Hagnauer Sports Complex.
Isabella Briagas led the Warriors with two hits and an RBI, while Chloe Randolph struck out seven inside the circle.
The Bulldogs are now 2-5, while Granite is now 0-5.
CIVIC MEMORIAL 14, PIASA SOUTHWESTERN 8: CM hit Southwestern with eight runs in the second, and six more in the fifth to take the win at the Bethalto Sports Complex.
Both Olivia Monroe and Grace Burton had two hits and three RBIs each for the Eagles, and also struck out nine inside the circle. Vivian Zurheide had three hits and three RBIs for the Piasa Birds, while Hannah Mary fanned four in the circle.
CM is now 5-1, while Southwestern goes to 1-3.
CARLINVILLE 6, NOKOMIS 3: Carlinville scored single runs in the second, fourth, sixth, and seventh innings, along with two runs in the fifth to take a road win at Nokomis.
Payton Harding led the Cavaliers with three hits and an RBI, while Hannah Gibson went all the way inside the circle, striking out 13.
Carlinville is now 2-2, while the Redskins slip to 2-5.
O'FALLON 14, ALTON 5: O'Fallon scored four runs in the first, three in the second, and four more in the third in their win at Alton.
Gabby Terrell had two hits and two RBIs for the Redbirds, while Kynlie Muscrella struck out three in the circle.
The Panthers are now 5-2, while Alton drops to 0-6.
In the other fixtures on the Thursday slate, Staunton won over Breese Central 2-0, Edwardsville took a 6-1 win over Belleville West, Greenfield Northwestern won over Winchester West Central 13-2, Mascoutah won over Columbia for the first time in 25 years, taking a 3-0 decision, Sparta nipped Dupo 5-4. and Beardstown won over WhiteHall North Greene 17-1.
