ALTON — The Roxana Shells put together a dominant performance Saturday, March 28, 2026, rolling to a 12-2 victory over Marquette Catholic Varsity Explorers at Gordon F. Moore Park.

Roxana wasted no time taking control, erupting for six runs in the top of the first inning. Lilli Ray, Claire Wilkinson, and Raegan Martin each drew bases-loaded walks to force in runs, while Kassidy Schuyler added another on a fielder’s choice. Kylah Brown followed with a walk to bring home a run, and Bella Smith capped the inning with a sacrifice fly to give the Shells an early 6-0 lead.
The Shells continued to apply pressure in the third when Ava Cherry was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, extending the lead to 7-1.
Roxana added insurance in the sixth inning. Ray blasted a solo home run to center field, Schuyler worked another run-scoring walk, and Brown drove in a run on a fielder’s choice to push the advantage to 12-2.
Raegan Martin earned the win in the circle, delivering a complete-game effort. She allowed two runs on 10 hits over seven innings while striking out five and walking just one.
Offensively, Ray, Wilkinson, and Martin each recorded two hits to lead Roxana. Schuyler and Brown drove in two runs apiece, while the Shells showed exceptional patience at the plate, drawing 16 walks. Martin and Brown each worked three walks to pace the lineup.
Roxana also made its presence felt on the basepaths, swiping seven bases. Cherry and Brown each had multiple steals.
Marquette Catholic collected 10 hits in the loss, led by Jayla Dickson, Allie Weiner, and Kenna Lievers with two hits each. Dickson and Nylah McDonald each drove in a run for the Explorers.
