EDWARDSVILLE - Chatham Glenwood stymied Edwardsville's hitting attack, allowing only three hits in the first game and two more hits in the second game, and used big innings, particularly in the first game, scoring six times in the fifth, to sweep the Tigers in a softball doubleheader 11-0 and 10-0 Friday afternoon and evening at the Edwardsville District 7 sports complex.

The double loss sent the Tigers back down to the break-even point at 7-7. The Titans remained undefeated and are now 6-0.

In the opener, in the top of the second, Glenwood struck when, with one out, Alyvia Strep stroked a single off of the pitcher, then went to second when Kileigh Warren was hit by a pitch. A Gracyn Lewis single loaded the bases, and Streib was forced home on a walk to Jemma Lamb to give the Titans a 1-0 lead. One out later, another bases loaded walk to Hope Gilmore brought in Warren to make it 2-0.

Glenwood added to its lead in the fourth, starting with a lead-off double by Warren, with a Lewis walk and a base hit by Lamb made it first and second when Warren was thrown out at third. Ryleigh Kiel singled to load the bases again, and an infield single by Gilmore brought home Lewis to make it 3-0. Lamb and Kiel scored on a two-RBI double by Sophia Feld to make it 5-0 before a groundout ended the inning.

Glenwood exploded for six runs in the fifth, starting with singles by Strep Warren and Lewis to load the bases, with Streb being thrown out at home on a great play by Sophie Antonini as second on an infield single by Lewis. Kiel doubled over the left fielder's head, cleared the bases, with Lamb, Warren, and Lewis all scoring to make it 8-0. One out later, with Kiel going to third, Ava Bobb singled her home, to make it 9-0, and a Feld double brought in Feld and Bob to make it 11-0. The Tigers were retired in order to create the final score.
