EDWARDSVILLE - Brooke Burris had a big day at-bat for Edwardsville, picking up two hits and four crucial RBIs, while Marley Fox threw four good innings inside the circle, as the Tigers broke open the game in the bottom of the sixth, scoring five times in a 10-4 win over Oswego in a softball game Monday afternoon, March 30, 2026, at the Edwardsville District 7 sports complex.
The Tigers bounced back nicely from a doubleheader sweep at the hands of Chatham Glenwood on Friday night. Edwardsville won over an Oswego team that has been touring Southern Illinois this week, and its road trip continues against Triad on Tuesday.

Edwardsville got things started in the bottom of the first, when Bryar Ellinger reached on an error, Amelia Wilfong stroked a single to left, sending Ellinger to second, with both runners coming around to score on Burris' RBI double down the left field line to make it 2-0 for the Tigers. Burris herself scored from second one out later on a sacrifice fly to right by Audrey De La Torre Cruz to make it 3-0 for Edwardsville.
Emily Grandone hit a one out single in the second, and advanced to second on an error by the right fielder, and scored on a Sophie Antonini RBI single to increase the lead to 4-0, but in the top of the fourth, Jaelynn Anthony hit a home run over the fence in dead center leading off to cut the lead to 4-1. In the home half, Maggie Bray led off with a base hit to right, was sacrificed to second on a good bunt by Grandone, and advanced to third on a hot shot back to the box by Antonini for an infield hit. Ellinger reached on a fielder's choice, with Bray being thrown out at home, Antonini going to third, and then scored on a passed ball to make it 5-1, Ellinger going to third. Wilfong lined out to second to end the inning.
In the Panthers' fifth, Jenna Blaskey led off with a walk and went to third on a single by Adalynn Fugitt, who took second on the play at third. After Blaskey was thrown out at home on a failed sacrifice bunt attempt, Betsy Jack's groundout scored Fugitt to make the score 5-2.
The Tigers broke it open in the sixth, starting with a one-out single by Ellinger, advancing Antonini, who had reached on a fielder's choice, to second, who scored on a double to left by Wilfong to make it 6-2 for Edwardsville, advancing Ellinger to third. Burris delivered the big blow, a two-run single to center to make it 8-2, then Lily Stone loaded up and homered over the center field fence, with Ellinger scoring ahead of Stone to make it 10-2 for Edwardsville.
Oswego wasn't quite finished yet, and in the top of the seventh, Sophie Moreland led off with a single to center, Jack reached on an error, setting up a first and second situation, with Maya Zamora being hit by a pitch to load the bases. A hard grounder back to the box by Kennedy Gengler scored Moreland, and one out later, Payton Hatzinger drew a bases-loaded walk to force home Jack to make it 10-4, but Makeaela Pippins struck out Blaskey to end the game for Edwardsville.
Burris led the way with her two hits and four RBIs, while Wilfong had two hits and an RBI, Grandone had two hits, Stone's two-run homer in the sixth was her only hit and RBIs, Ellinger, Bray, and Remi Werden all had a hit each, and De La Torre Cruz picked up an RBI.
Fox was credited with the win, going four innings, allowing an earned run on five hits, walking none and striking out five, while Pippins threw the last three innings, giving up three runs, one earned, on four hits, walking three and fanning one.
The Panthers are now 2-6, while Edwardsville goes to 8-7, and hosts Collinsville on Tuesday in a Southwestern Conference matchup, then continues its home stand with a game against Granite City Thursday, both games starting at 4:30 p.m., then host Quincy in a doubleheader on Saturday, with the first game starting as 10 a.m.
