Since opening in downtown Alton, The Wedge, powered by SIUE, has grown into a space for entrepreneurs, remote professionals, students, and organizations seeking a place to work, develop, connect, and generate new ideas. Designed as more than just a coworking space, The Wedge serves as a platform where business, education, and community intersect to support regional growth and revitalization. And with Southern Illinois University Edwardsville as its premier partner, The Wedge has unlocked an overwhelming amount of access to education, research, workshops and expertise throughout the community.

To mark its one-year anniversary, The Wedge is launching a series of April initiatives that combine accessible workspace opportunities with direct community impact.

Anniversary Campaign Highlights

  • $100 off the first three months of private office rent for new members signing a 12-month agreement
  • $1 coworking day passes, with all proceeds being donated to the Greater Alton Community Development Corporation and local overnight warming locations

This campaign is intentionally framed as a way to give back rather than simply promote programs and services.

“This past year has been about building something meaningful with the community,” said Nikkia Lowe, Content and Experience Coordinator. “We want this celebration to reflect exactly that, not just by looking back, but by giving forward.”

Community Events and Activation

As part of the anniversary celebration, The Wedge will host multiple events throughout April, including a rooftop celebration on April 24 starting at 4:30 PM.

  • Rooftop views and plenty of networking opportunities

A Growing Hub for Connection and Opportunity

Over the past year, The Wedge has become a gathering place for a diverse mix of 100s of individuals and about 200 companies and organizations, contributing to downtown Alton’s ongoing momentum. The Wedge has become best known for its flexible workspaces offering private offices, meeting/conference rooms, “hot desk” coworking spaces and an incredible lineup of event programming, all centered around connection and collaboration directly supporting small business startups, founders and their growth.

By lowering barriers to entry and creating opportunities for the Riverbend Region to come together, The Wedge continues to position itself as a major driver of local innovation and economic activity, defining a useful blueprint for today’s suburban and rural revitalization.
