

EDWARDSVILLE - Savanna Lewis led the way for Edwardsville with a hit and two RBIs on a day where the Tigers only had four hits, but took advantage of eight walks and various other miscues, scoring eight times in the second inning en route to a 15-0 Southwestern Conference softball win over Collinsville on Tuesday afternoon, March 31, 2026, at the Edwardsville District 7 Sports Complex.

The win get the Tigers back two games over break-even at 9-7, but more importantly, improves the conference mark to 2-0 and closing out March on a positive note.
The Tigers got three runs in the first inning, starting with lead-off walks to Bryar Ellinger and Amelia Wilfong, with Ellinger going to third on a passed ball, and Wilfong taking second on a wild pitch. A Brooke Burris grounder to third scored Ellinger, with Wilfong going to third. Wilfong scored when Lily Stone reached on a dropped fly ball by the center fielder, with Stone circling the bases to score and make it 3-0.
The Tigers exploded for eight runs in the next inning, starting when Maggie Bray was hit by a pitch, went to second on a wild pitch, and to third on a ground out o third by Marley Fox. A bunt single by Sophie Antonini scored Bray to make it 4-0, then Ellinger drew a walk to set up runners on first and second. An RBI single by Wilfong scored Antonini to make the score 5-0. One out later, Stone was hit by a pitch to load the bases, then Ellinger scored on an error by the catcher to up the lead to 6-0. Audrey De La Torre Cruz was hit by a pitch to reload the bases, with walks to Remi Werden and Bray forcing home two runs. De La Torre Cruz scored on a passed ball to make it 9-0, and when Fox reached on an error by the shortstop, two more runs scored and made the score 11-0.
In the third, pinch hitter Marissa Wiley reached on an error to start, Emily Grandone walked, and Maksine Straub singled home Wiley to make it 12-0, Grandone going to third and Straub taking second on a throw to the plate. Lewis then singled home both Grandone and Straub to make it 14-0, and one out later, both Werden and Lily Maxwell were intentionally walked to load the bases. Sammie Herbeck's sacrifice fly to left scored Lewis to make it 15-0, with Collinsville going down in the top of the fourth to call the game due to the 15-run rule.
In addition to Lewis' hit and two RBIs, Wilfong, Straub, and Antonini had hits and RBIs, and Burris, Bray, Werden, and Herbeck also drove in runs for the Tigers. Fox started in the circle, and was credited with the win, throwing three innings, allowing three hits and no walks, striking out seven. Herbeck threw in the fourth inning, and didn't give up a run or hit, walking one and fanning one.
Edwardsville improves to 9-7, and continues its home stand Thursday against Granite City in a 4:30 p.m. start, then hosts Quincy in a doubleheader, with the first game starting at 10 a.m., then host two more conference games, against Alton Apr. 7 and Belleville East Apr. 9, both starting at 4:30 p.m.
