Alton Woman Faces Felony After Alleged Toys For Tots Donation Theft

ALTON – A local woman has been charged with stealing toys that were donated to charity last December.

Brenda L. Donithan, 28, of Alton, was charged on March 16, 2026 with one count of theft, a Class 4 felony.

On Dec. 4, 2025, Donithan allegedly knowingly obtained or exerted unauthorized control over property of the Nautilus Fitness Center in Alton. She is specifically accused of stealing various toys that had been donated to the Toys For Tots charity, with the intent to deprive Nautilus Fitness Center permanently of the property.

The Alton Police Department presented the case against Donithan, who was ordered to be released form custody pending trial.

All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
