Letter To The Editor:

I am Sergeant Ferguson with the Alton Police Department. We have participated in this event for the past 35 years and are trying to inform local businesses and citizens who might be interested in attending a baseball game. This is the first year we are reaching out to local businesses to see if they would like to donate tickets that could be given to Alton School District children and their families to enjoy with us.

I have attached the community partner request (for businesses interested in donating) and a way (for individuals who want to purchase their own tickets and join the fun). Any help you can provide in spreading the word would be greatly appreciated.

If you have any questions or if your business would like to participate, please let me know.

Dear Community Partner

The Alton Police Department is proud to invite your business to participate as a sponsor for the 35th Annual Cardinals, Kids, and Cops event (formerly known as Cardinal D.A.R.E. Night), a long-standing tradition that brings law enforcement, children, and families together in a positive and memorable way.

This year’s event will take place on Sunday, May 17th, 2026, at 1:15 p.m., featuring the St. Louis Cardinals vs. the Kansas City Royals at Busch Stadium.

Through the generosity of our partners, we are able to offer tickets at a deeply discounted rate of $20.00 per ticket (regularly priced at $60.00). Each ticket includes:

· A hot-dog and soda voucher

· Entry into a pre-game children’s parade around the warning track

· Eligibility for the product giveaway, where the first 20,000 fans age 16 and older receive a Cardinals-branded Boat Tote with Charm

Our goal is to provide children and families—many of whom might not otherwise have the opportunity—with a fun, safe, and unforgettable day at the ballpark. We are seeking sponsorships from local businesses willing to help make this possible by purchasing tickets that will be distributed to children and families within our community.
