TROY - The Troy Fire Department responded to a structure fire late Sunday, April 5, 2026, in the area of West Kirsch Road and Springvalley Road after multiple neighbors called 911 to report a loud explosion and visible flames and smoke.

Firefighters arrived just after 11 p.m. Sunday and found a house fully involved. Crews located one victim with burns. The person was taken to an area hospital and later transported to St. Louis by medical helicopter.
Firefighters worked to bring the fire under control as additional agencies responded. The Maryville and O’Fallon fire departments assisted, and several area fire departments sent ambulances because it was unclear how many victims there might be.
Madison County Emergency Management responded with its rehab unit and drone team. The Illinois State Fire Marshal was also called.
Fire officials have not released whether anyone else was inside the home.
Fire crews are still on scene as of this story being published.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Department, along with the Troy Police Department and Illinois State Police, closed roads in the area because of the amount of fire equipment.
