ST. LOUIS - St. Louis Metropolitan Police said officers have taken 45-year-old Demetrius Ingram into custody after he was wanted in connection with the shooting at a St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department officer around 10 p.m. Monday, March 30, 2026, in the 3200 block of South Kingshighway.
The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said Ingram was located in a garage on Lawn Avenue near Fyler Avenue on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, and that a firearm was recovered. St. Louis Metropolitan Police said the officer initially approached the suspect after a security guard reported a man throwing rocks at vehicles.
The department said the suspect “immediately fled into heavy brush/trees,” and that “while the suspect was fleeing, he fired at our officer.” Police said the officer was not injured.
The department said the search involved officers across the city, including Mobile Reserve, Intelligence, FAST (Fugitive Apprehension Strike Force), K9, Metro Air Support, South Patrol detectives and the U.S. Marshals.
In an earlier update, police described the suspect as about 6 feet tall and between 170 and 180 pounds, last seen wearing a red-and-black jacket and blue jeans, and said he normally carries a backpack or rolling suitcase. Police had warned the public not to approach and to call 911.
