MONDAY, APRIL 6 PLAY IT AGAIN BOYS SPORTS ROUNDUP

BASEBALL

CARROLLTON 6, WINCHESTER WEST CENTRAL 2: Carrollton scored twice in the opening inning, then once in the fifth and three more runs in the seventh to take the road win at West Central.

Jayce Steinkuehler had three hits, including a home run, and two RBIs for the Hawks, while Charlie Stumpf struck out 14 while on the mound.

Carrollton is now 3-3, while the Cougars are now 3-5.

CIVIC MEMORIAL 8, COLLINSVILLE 6: CM broke a 3-3 tie in the top of the fifth with five runs in the inning, then held off a Collinsville rally, scoring three runs in the home half of the sixth, in taking a win at Woodland Park in Collinsville.

Brock Rust led the Eagles with two hits and a RBI, while Jacob Flowers struck out three on the mound. Roman Pomerantz had two hits and a RBI for the Kahoks, while Henry Stirnaman fanned six on the mound.

CM is now 7-5. while Collinsville goes to 3-6.

GRANITE CITY 6, HIGHLAND 2: Granite City took a 3-2 lead in the fourth, then scored once in the fifth and two more in the seventh to break a five-game losing streak with a win at Glik Park.

Timo Bradley had two hits and three RBIs for the Warriors, while Ben Wilson struck out five on the mound. Tyler Mehrtens had two hits for the Bulldogs and also struck out five on the mound.

Granite is now 2-6, with Highland going to 2-9.

NOKOMIS 4, CARLINVILLE 3: Nokomis led most of the way, but Carlinville scored once in the sixth and twice in the seventh to take the lead, but the Redskins scored once in the bottom of the seventh to win.

Both Paxton Walch and Noah Convery had two hits each for the Cavaliers, while Ian Ronald struck out five on the mound.

Nokomis is now 5-3, while Carlinville goes to 2-3.

FATHER MCGIVNEY CATHOLIC 14, CENTRALIA CHRIST OUR ROCK LUTHERAN 2: McGivney scored five runs in the first and nine in the third to take the win at Griffins Field.

Ben Sink had two hits and three RBIs for the Griffins, with Jacoby Danco striking out four on the mound.

McGivney is now 8-3, while the Silver Stallions are now 4-3.

PIASA SOUTHWESTERN 8, JACKSONVILLE 5: Southwestern scored twice in both the second and fourth, then plated four runs in the seventh to take the win at Jacksonville.

Reed Campbell had two hits for the Piasa Birds, while both Carter Watson and Ben Biciocchi struck out two each on the mound.

Southwestern is now 2-6, while the Crimsons slip to 7-3.

In other games played on Monday, Columbia won over Waterloo Gibault Catholic 11-5, Mascoutah nipped belleville West 3-2, Breese Central took a 12-0 win over Okawville, Concord Triopia got past Greenfield Northwestern 5-4, Freeburg got past Waterloo 5-3, and Gateway Legacy Christian of Florissant, Mo. won over Maryville Christian 7-2.

VOLLEYBALL

In the two volleyball matches played on Monday, Belleville Althoff Catholic defeated Granite City 25-18. 25-21. and Belleville East defeated Father McGivney Catholic 25-7, 25-21.

SATURDAY, APRIL 4 PLAY IT AGAIN SPORTS ROUNDUP

BASEBALL

In a game played on Friday, Red Bud won over Belleville Althoff Catholic 15-1. In a very light schedule on Saturday, Breese Central shut out DuQuoin 2-0, O'Fallon won over Francis Howell North of St, Charles, Mo. 11-4, and Macon took an 11-5 decision over Greenfield Northwestern.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

In the only match played on Saturday, Belleville East won over crosstown rival Belleville West 25-19, 25-18.

GIRLS LACROSSE

In the only game played on Saturday, at OTHS Panther Stadium, O'Fallon turned back Dunlap 16-5.

SOFTBALL

PLEASANT PLAINS 8, TRIAD 3: In Triad's opener of the cluster, Pleasant Plains scored six runs in the first and two more in the second to help take the four inning contest.

Kenzie Becker led the Knights with two hits and two RBIs, while Olivia Zitta struck out three inside the circle.

The Cardinals are currently 7-1.

TRIAD 6, WARRENSBURG-LATHAM 0: In Triad's final game of the day, the Knights scored three times in both the third and fifth to take the five inning decision over Warrensburg-Latham.

Keller led the Knights with three hits and two RBIs in the game, while Harper fanned nine inside the circle.

Triad is now 7-5, while the Cardinals go to 4-5.

In another game played on Saturday, Villa Grove got past White Hall North Greene 5-4.

BASEBALL

EDWARDSVILLE 4, JACKSON, MO. 2: In the first game of a cluster that was originally scheduled for Saturday, but moved up 24 hours because of the threat of severe weather, Edwardsville scored twice in the second, and once each in the fourth and fifth, then held off a Jackson rally attempt, holding them to two run in the seventh, to take the win over the cluster's hosts.

Nathan Bukovac had two hits and an RBI for the Tigers, while Zane Maxwell had the other hit, and Andrew McCutchen also drove home a run. Tony Eberlin threw six innings on the mound, allowing three runs, two earned on three hits, walking two and striking out 11, while Bukovac earned the save, pitching in the seventh, and allowing no runs on one hit, walking none and fanning one.

The Indians are currently 9-1.

EUREKA, MO. 10, EDWARDSVILLE 2: In the Tigers' second game, Eureka broke a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the fourth by scoring six runs, then added on three more in the sixth to take the win over Edwardsville.

Bukovac had two hits for the Tigers, while both Nick Chiarodo and Joel Fields had a hit and RBI each, and Ty Hunt, Sean Murphy, and Maxwell also al had hits. Andrew McKay started on the mound, and was charged with the loss, going three innings allowing an earned run on two hits, walking three and striking out two. Brody Hasquin went 0.2 innings, giving up three earned runs on three hits, walking or fanning none, Carter Grote threw for 1.1 innings, giving up only a hit on no walks and one strikeout, Calyx Wise threw for 0.2 innings, giving up an earned run on three hits, walking one and striking out none, and Jax Andreas tossed the final 0.1 inning, conceding five earned run on three hits, walking or striking out none each.

The Wildcats are now 8-2, while Edwardsville goes to 4-6.

MASCOUTAH 9, COLLINSVILLE 0: At Arsenal BG Ballpark in Sauget (formerly GCS Ballpark). Mascoutah pitching held Collinsville without a hit, while scoring four times in the fourth to take the win over Collinsville.

Logan O'Dell struck out three while on the mound for the Kahoks.

The Indians are now 7-0, while Collinsville goes to 3-5.

PADUCAH, KY., MCCRACKEN COUNTY 7, ALTON 1: In the first game of a cluster in Paducah, McCracken County scored twice in each of the first three innings er route to a win over Alton.

Parker Cannon had a hit and RBI for the Redbirds, while Jack Puent struck out thrree on the mound.

The Mustangs are now 3-3.

HOPKINSVILLE, KY. UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS 15, ALTON 3: In Alton's second game of the day, University Heights scored 10 runs in the fourth to help take the win over the Redbirds.

Logan Hickman had a hit and RBI for Alton, while Donovan Ducey fanned three on the mound.

The Blazers are now 9-2, while the Redbirds go to 6-4.

JERSEY 3, CARLINVILLE 1: Jersey scored single runs in the first, fourth and fifth in holding off visiting Carlinville.

Graham Vanhausdoll had two hits and two RBIs for the Panthers, while Shane Lamer had the other two hits. Brady Maxeiner struck out six while on the mound. Drew Quarton had two hits for the Cavaliers, while Blake Killam had a hit and RBI, and Paxton Walch also had a hit. Noah Convery fanned nine on the mound.

Carlinville is now 2-2.

JERSEY 2, VIRDEN NORTH MAC 1: Jersey scored a run in the fifth to take the lead, but North Mac came back to equalize in the seventh, only to see Jersey to score a run in the top of the eighth to take the win on the road.

Maddix Vanhausdoll had two hits and an RBI for Jersey, while Lamer struck out four on the mound.


Jersey is now 6-2, while North Mac goes to 3-3.

RAYMOND LINCOLNWOOD 2, CARROLLTON 1: Lincolnwood scored once in the first and once in the fifth, with Carrollton's sixth inning not enough in the Lancers' win over the Hawks.

Carson Flowers had two hits and an RBI for Carrollton, while Eli Cox struck out four on the mound.

Lincolnwood starts its season 1-0, while the Hawks go to 2-3.

ROXANA 3, CIVIC MEMORIAL 2: CM scored single runs in the third and sixth, but Roxana scored all three of their runs in the home half of the sixth to win at Roxana City Park.

Nick Miles had two hits for the Shells, while Austin Elliott had a hit and RBI, and Joe Johnson had the other hit. Dalton Carriker struck out six while on the mound. Dr

In other games played on Friday, Freeburg won over Belleville West 4-0, then the Midgets defeated Louisville North Clay 15-5, O'Fallon defeated Blue Springs, Mo. South of suburban Kansas City 6-2, Belleville East nipped Horton Watkins of Ladue, Mo., in west St. Louis County 2-0, Greenfield Northwestern lost twice, to Schuyler County of Lancaster, Mo. 9-6, and to Owensboro, Mo. 10-0, Highland won over Murphysboro 10-4.

GIRLS SOCCER

CIVIC MEMORIAL 7, CARLINVILLE 1: Landree Wallace had a big game for CM with five goals, while Delaney Griffin had a brace (two goals) as the Eagles took the three points over Carlinville at Hauser Field.

Bryleigh Marshall and Carlina McGaughey didn't have to make a save in goal as the CM keepers shared the win.

The Eagles are now 3-3-0, while the Cavaliers slip to 4-1-0.

In another match played on Friday, Winnetka New Trier defeated Columbia 6-0.

SOFTBALL

JERSEY 9, PIASA SOUTHWESTERN 1: Jersey scored four runs in the third and five more in the sixth to take the win over Southwestern.

Maleah Derrick had two hits and four RBIs for the Panthers, while Anna Kribs had a home run among her two hits and three RBIs. Paxton Weirich struck out four while in the circle.

Jersey is now 6-2, while the Piasa Birds are 3-4.

ROXANA 18, GRANITE CITY 2: Roxana scored four runs in the first and third innings, and five in the second and fourth innings, to take the win over Granite City at the Nelson Hagnauer Sports Complex.

Neveah Becker, Chloe Randolph, Alexis Ruiz, and Isabella Briagas all had the hits for the Warriors, while Briagas had the only strikeout in the circle.

The Shells are now 8-1, while Granite goes to 1-9.

In a doubleheader played on Friday, Edwardsville swept Quincy 15-0 and 17-2.
