ALTON - The Old Bakery Beer Company will host the 15th annual Riverbend Earth Day Festival complete with vendors, a plant sale, live music, drink specials and more.

From 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2026, community members can stop by OBB for a day of Earth Day-themed fun. Lauren with OBB explained that the event is “a celebration” and a chance to engage with local organizations and vendors, with a focus on sustainability and environmentalism.

“It’s always a great day, and it looks like it’s going to be a beautiful day as well,” she said. “It’s something we love to celebrate. We love the Earth.”

A few educational resources will be onsite that day, including the National Great Rivers Research and Education Center, the Sierra Club, and the Mississippi River Water Trail.

OBB will also host a market, but the vendors are asked to bring products that prioritize sustainability. These eco-friendly vendors and artisans include Tana’s Stained Glass, River City Oddities, ReBloomSTL, Stay Weird Crochet, and many others. For a full list of vendors, visit the official Facebook event page.

“It’s different from our normal kind of market events. It’s more of a celebration,” Lauren explained. “There’s definitely an educational component in addition to all of the great shopping.”

The plant sale is one of the most popular elements of the Riverbend Earth Day Festival. Lauren said she will be buying all of the plants for OBB’s landscaping that day. She encourages all gardeners to come out and get the plants they need for a bountiful garden this year.

She also promises “jammy and earthy music” by Casting Runes Band from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. followed by Universal Groove Society until 4:30 p.m. Attendees can enjoy the restaurant's regular bar and menu throughout the day.

The festival will unveil OBB’s spring beer, a maibock that Laruen described as “a heavier-bodied lager, just really nice, easy-to-drink spring beer but with a little bit more body.” She said last spring’s brew was her favorite of the year, and she anticipates this maibock will be equally well-loved by the community.

In addition to the Riverbend Earth Day Festival, OBB will host their monthly Drink for a Cause day on Thursday, April 16, 2026, with 25% of beer sales going to the Treehouse Wildlife Center. Lauren noted you can also round up at the register throughout the month to support the organization.

She is also looking forward to participating in Grateful Dead Day with other downtown Alton businesses on April 25, 2026. For a full list of all events at The Old Bakery Beer Company, visit their official Facebook page or their official website.
