Crews arrived to find several vehicles on fire at Patterson Towing, prompting a massive mutual aid response. Assisting departments included Midway Fire Department, along with Camp Jackson, Cahokia Heights, East St. Louis, Prairie Du Pont, Church Road, Hollywood Heights, Millstadt, Columbia, O'Fallon, Madison, State Park, and Villa Hills fire departments.
Firefighters faced challenges due to limited hydrant access in the area. Tanker trucks were used to shuttle water to a portable drop tank, allowing crews to maintain a steady water supply while battling the flames. Cahokia Heights firefighters also utilized a ladder truck to help contain the blaze.
