BASEBALL
CARLINVILLE 6-5, GREENFIELD NORTHWESTERN 4-10: Carlinville and Greenfield split a doubleheader at the Tigers' park, with the Cavaliers scoring two runs in the third, sixth and seventh to take the opener, then Greenfield scoring five times in the first, twice in the second, and three times in the third to take the nightcap.
In the first game, Michael Kaganich had three hits and three RBIs for Carlinville, while Drew Quarton came up with three hits. Kaganich also struck out five while on the mound. In the second game, both Reece Loy and Zander Bellm had two hits each for the Cavies, while Colin McKinney fanned seven on the mound.
Carlinville is now 3-6, while the Tigers go to 5-8.
TRIAD 11, GRANITE CITY 1: Triad scored single runs in the second and third, then three runs in the fourth, fifth, and seventh to take the win at Babe Champion Field.
Nolan Keller had two hits, including a solo homer, and an RBI for the Knights, while Auggie Bugger hit a three-run homer for his only hit and RBIs, Pearce Goodfield struck out eight while on the mound. The Warriors were led by Timo Bradley with two hits and the only RBI of the day, while Andrew Willaredt struck out three on the mound.
Triad is now 9-2, while Granite goes to 4-6,
FATHER MCGIVNEY CATHOLIC 2, COLUMBIA 0: In a tournament at Columbia, McGivney scored both of their runs in the third and made them stand up to win their eighth straight game.
Issac Wendler had two hits and an RBI for the Griffins, while Omar Avalos had a hit and the other RBI. Grant Reed fanned four while on the mound.
McGivney is now 12-3, while the Eagles drop to 2-7.
JERSEY 21-10, SPRINGFIELD SOUTHEAST 0-0: In a doubleheader played at Springfield Southeast, an 11-run second and eight-run fourth helped lead Jersey to a first-game win, then the Panthers picked up three runs in the first and fourth, and four more in the fifth to take the second game and the sweep.
In the opener, Brogan Kanaliakan had two hits and three RBIs for Jersey, while Jude Jones hit a two-run homer for his only hit and RBIs. Shane Lamer went all the way on the mound, striking out one. In the nightcap, both Graham Vanusdoll and Brady Maxeiner had two hits and two RBIs each, while Brody Short fanned six in a complete game on the mound.
The Panthers are now 10-2, while the Spartans go to 1-9.
HARDIN CALHOUN 7-7, PIASA SOUTHWESTERN 0-10: Southwestern and Calhoun split a doubleheader at the Piasa Birds' home park, with the Warriors scoring two in the second, one in the third, and four in the sixth to win, while Southwestern got the split by scoring three in the first and third, and twice in the fourth and fifth to hold off a Calhoun rally.
In the opener, Easton Wallendorf had three hits and two RBIs for the Warriors, while Jack Goode had three hits and an RBI, and Charlie Matthews had three hits. Abner Hillen went all the way on the mound, fanning two. Dalton Scott, Ben Biciocchi, Gage Campbell, John Kunz, and Colton Huber had the hits for Southwestern, while Huber struck out two on the mound.
In the nightcap, Reed Campbell had two hits and two RBIs for the Birds, while Campbell, Biciocchi, and Carter Bacon all struck out one batter each. Good had four hits and an RBI for Calhoun, while Jacob Brannan had three hits, including a home run, and three RBIs, and Max Toppmeyer also had three hits. Toppmeyer also struck out three on the mound.
Southwestern is now 4-8, while the Warriors go to 4-4.
FREEBURG 14, ALTON 4: Freeburg scored three runs in the first, seven in the second, and four in the fifth to take the win over Alton at Redbirds Field.
Alex Pilger had two hits and three RBIs for the Redbirds, while Fletcher Groppel struck out two while on the mound.
The Midgets are now 10-2, while Alton goes to 6-7.
SPRINGFIELD SACRED HEART-GRIFFIN CATHOLIC 7, COLLINSVILLE 1: SH-G scored twice in the first, second, and fifth innings, then added a single run in the sixth to take the win over visiting Collinsville.
Carson Parill had two hits for the Kahoks, while Mason Ponder struck out two while on the mound.
The Cyclones are now 11-3, while Collinsville slips to 4-8.
In other games played on Saturday, Carthage Illini West defeated Belleville East 9-3 at Busch Stadium, Kankakee Bishop McNamara Catholic turned back Columbia 10-4, Waterloo swept a doubleheader from Waterloo Gibault Catholic 14-3 and 9-4, and O'Fallon shut out Belleville Althoff Catholic 10-0. In a result from Friday, East St. Louis won over St. Louis Miller Career Academy 22-0.

In the Belleville Althoff Catholic Invitational tournament, which concluded Saturday at Southwestern Illinois College in Belleville. The Crusaders won over Jackson, Mo. Saxony Lutheran 25-17, 23-25, 15-11, Freeburg won over Maryville Christian 25-11, 25-11, St. Dominic Catholic of O'Fallon, Mo. defeated Belleville West 27-26, 20-25, 15-13, Collinsville won over Father McGivney Catholic 15-25, 25-19, 15-8, West won over McGivney 25-20, 20-25, 15-11, Saxony won over Maryville 25-17, 25-19, Althoff won over Edwardsville 25-19, 25-15, McGivney defeated Maryville 25-20, 20-25, 15-11, West got past Saxony 25-18, 25-19, Collinsville defeated Freeburg 22-25, 26-24, 15-11, St. Dominic won over Edwardsville 25-23, 22-25, 15-10, and in the final, Althoff won over Cape Girardeau, Mo. Notre Dame 25-7, 25-8.
In a tournament at Ft. Zumwalt South High in St. Peters, Mo., O'Fallon won three out of four matches, winning over the host Bulldogs 25-7, 25-11, split with Lutheran South o Affton, Mo. winning the first set 25-22, and losing the second set, 25-12, and won over CBC 25-23, 25-22, but lost their final match to St. John Vianney Catholic 17-25. 40-38. 25-21.

FATHER MCGIVNEY CATHOLIC 5, MT. PULASKI 3: In the first game of a cluster played at Pleasant Plains, McGivney scored once in the second, third, and fifth innings, and twice in the fourth, to help take the win over Mt. Pulaski.
Issac Wendler led the Griffins with three hits and an RBI, while Aiden Willis struck out eight on the mound.
The Hilltoppers are now 5-4 after losing to the hosts 5-4 in their second game.
FATHER MCGIVNEY CATHOLIC 11, PLEASANT PLAINS 9: McGivney scored twice in the second, five in the fourth, and four in the fifth to hold off Pleasant Plains in a six-inning contest in their second game of the cluster.
Omar Avalos had three hits and three RBIs for the Griffins, while Paddy Martin, Tyler Jacobs, and Lucas Perich all struck out one batter each on the mound.
McGivney is now 11-3, while the Cardinals go to 6-7.
WINCHESTER WEST CENTRAL 27, EAST ALTON-WOOD RIVER 7: West Central scored in all four innings, climaxing with a 12-run fourth to take the win over EAWR at Norris Dorsey Field.
Cannan Cook had two hits and an RBI for the Oilers, while Zane Bartz fanned three on the mound.
The Cougars are now 5-6, while EAWR is now 1-8.
ROXANA 6, BREESE MATER DEI CATHOLIC 3: Roxana scored once in the third, three times in the fifth, and twice in the sixth to defeat Mater Dei on the road.
Both Max Autery and Keelan Crawford had two hits and an RBI each for the Shells, while Brad Herrin struck out four on the mound.
Roxana is now 10-1, while the Knights are now 3-8.
GRANITE CITY 9, MARQUETTE CATHOLIC 1: Granite City scored three runs to start the game in the first, then scored once in the second and seventh, and twice in both the fourth and fifth to defeat Marquette at Lloyd Hopkins Field in Gordon Moore Park.
Darin Brown had two hits and three RBIs for the Warriors, while Tucker Kolb struck out three on the mound. The Explorers were led by Keller Jacobs, with two hits and an RBI, with Tony Matthews fanning two on the mound.
Granite is now 4-5, while Marquette goes to 5-6.
ODIN 10, MARYVILLE CHRISTIAN 7: Odin scored four runs in both the first and the fifth innings, then pushed across three in the seventh, to take a win over visiting Maryville.
Chase Lasater had three hits and three RBIs for the Lions, and also struck out four while on the mound.
The Eagles are now 3-7, while Maryville goes to 4-4.
PIASA SOUTHWESTERN 11, HILLSBORO 0: Southwestern scored four runs in the second, six in the third, and a single run in the fourth to defeat Hillsboro at home.
Colton Huber had three hits for the Piasa Birds, while Ben Biciocchi had two hits and two RBIs. Carter Watson went all the way on the mound, fanning eight.

VIRDEN NORTH MAC 4, CARLINVILLE 2: North Mac trailed after the first inning 2-1, but scored twice in the fifth to go ahead, and added an insurance run in the sixth to win over Carlinville at Loveless Park.

In a tournament being played at the Belleville Sportsplex, Belleville Althoff Catholic won over Maryville Christian 25-8, 25-10, Edwardsville defeated Freeburg 25-17, 25-18, St. Dominic Catholic of O'Fallon, Mo., in St. Charles County, got past Father McGivney Catholic 25-21, 25-16, Cape Girardeau, Mo. Notre Dame Catholic won over Collinsville 25-13, 25-15. Edwardsville won over Saxony Lutheran of Jackson, Mo. 25-11, 21-25, 15-12, Belleville West won over Cape Notre Dame 25-15, 25-21, Althoff won over Freeburg 25-21, 25-18, St. Dominic defeated Collinsville 19-25, 25-9. 15-8, Cape Notre Dame won over McGivney 25-13, 25-18, Saxony won over Freeburg 23-25, 25-18, 15-7, West won over Freeburg 25-15. 25-21. and Edwardsville won over Maryville 25-13, 25-17.

ROXANA 20, EAST ALTON-WOOD RIVER 1: In a game that was called after two innings, Roxana scored twice in the first, then 18 runs in the second to take their second game in three days over EAWR, this at Roxana City Park.
Keelan Crawford had three hits and two RBIs for the Shells, while Lyndon Theiss struck out two on the mound. Cannan Cook had the only hit for the Oilers, while Kale Carpenter, Keaton Maguraney, and Landon Smith all pitched for the Oilers, but did not strike anyone out.
Roxana is now 9-1, while EAWR goes to 1-7.
BELLEVILLE WEST 6, COLLINSVILLE 1: West scored twice in the second and four times in the fourth to take the win over visiting Collinsville.
Benjamin Tillman had a hit and an RBI for the Kahoks, while Braden Henson and Logan O'Dell had the other hits. O'Dell also struck out six on the mound.
The Maroons are now 7-6-1, while Collinsville goes to 4-7.
GRANITE CITY 7, QUINCY 6: Granite City got through a four-run first inning by Quincy, then scored five runs in the fourth and twice more in the sixth to take the win at Babe Champions Field.
Timo Bradley had two hits and three RBIs for the Warriors, while Michael Terry went all the way on the mound, fanning seven.
Granite is now 3-5, while the Blue Devils fall to 7-3-1.
FATHER MCGIVNEY CATHOLIC 13, CENTRALIA CHRIST OUR ROCK LUTHERAN 2: McGivney scored three runs in the sixth, and six more in the seventh to take the Gateway Metro Conference win at COR.
Omar Avalos had two hits and two RBIs for the Griffins, while Scott Phelps hit a solo home run. Jacob Robinson had two strikeouts while on the mound.
