ALTON - A local wiffleball tournament will raise money for a Marquette Catholic High School scholarship in honor of Jack Warren.
At 10 a.m. on May 30, 2026, community members will come together for Wifflefest, an annual 2v2 tournament for players of all ages, genders and abilities. Noah Fahnestock, who helps organize the tournament, said the event will be a lot of fun while raising money for a good cause in honor of his friend.
“It’s my favorite day of the year,” Fahnestock said. “This will be our third year, and we’re super stoked about it.”
Warren graduated from Marquette in the Class of 2019. He played baseball and golf and served as Captain Marquette during his senior year.

He went on to play baseball at Lewis and Clark Community College. When he passed away in December of 2021, his family established a scholarship in his name at Marquette to help a family in need of tuition assistance.
Fahnestock, who was a close friend of Warren’s, shared that his father Mike started Wifflefest with his friends. Fahnestock and Warren would talk about one day resurrecting the tournament when they were older. Now, the Wifflefest fundraiser is a way to raise money for the scholarship fund while memorializing Warren.
“Jack loved baseball probably more than anything in the world. I know that he would love to be at Wifflefest,” Fahnestock said.
As the tournament draws nearer, Fahnestock hopes to welcome 64 players this year, or 32 teams. Players sign up individually and are randomly assigned a partner before the tournament starts. Click here to sign up.
It costs $35 to participate, which includes a t-shirt and a meal by Big Belly Deli. Players will compete to “dethrone” the reigning champs, and Fahnestock promises it’s a good time for all.
He also noted that they would love to have spectators. You can pay $25 to receive a t-shirt and buy lunch on-site for $10. Click here for more information.
Fahnestock encourages people to reach out to him via social media for more information or to arrange payment or donations. All proceeds will go toward the Jack Warren Memorial Scholarship.
Over the past two years, the Wifflefest tournament has raised over $5,500. Fahnestock hopes to beat the record this year.
The tournament is hosted at Tim Fahnestock’s house. Tim is Noah’s uncle and was Warren’s baseball coach at Marquette. Everyone involved in the tournament cared deeply for Warren, and now they are doing what they can to give back in his name.
“I just know deep down in my heart how much he would love to be out there and how much he would love to participate,” Noah Fahnestock added. “It’s great to catch up with Jack’s family and see everybody that got to hang out with Jack and tell stories and share laughs. There’s nothing Jack loved more, other than baseball, than to laugh and have fun. So it’s the best day of the year.”
