
ALTON - Kennedy Lacey, Lucille Cassenti and Samuel Caughran, all students at Alton High School, were honored as Students of the Month for April 2026 during a regular meeting of the Rotary Club of Alton-Godfrey at Gentelin’s on Broadway Restaurant.

Kennedy Lacey
Kennedy Lacey, a senior at Alton High School, has a 4.16 GPA and has been consistently placed on the Academic High Honor Roll. She is dual-enrolled at Lewis & Clark Community College and Saint Louis University and plans to graduate with the Seal of Biliteracy or the Commendation of Biliteracy after taking four years of Spanish.
Outside the classroom, Lacey founded OutspoKEN Beauty, a professional makeup business, four years ago, and serves clients throughout the Alton area.
She has completed more than 120 hours of community service and is involved in Student Council, Upward Bound TRIO, Link Crew, Spanish Club, Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honor Society and the Tatler Program.
She is a three-year member of the varsity cheerleading and girls soccer teams and serves on the Riverbend Growth Association Young Adults Committee. She also worked the polls at the Madison County Primary Election in March 2026 and is a 2026 Jewels of Distinction participant with the Alton National Council of Negro Women.
Lacey's recognitions include first place in the Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. Alpha Zeta Chapter Evelyn D. Wilkey Scholarship Essay Contest; second runner-up overall and first place essay winner in the Miss Illinois Juneteenth Scholarship Pageant; and second runner-up in the 2025 Miss Fashionetta Cotillion. She was also selected for the Alton High School Homecoming Court.
Lacey participated in a mission trip to Costa Rica in 2021, supporting unhoused families, and studied abroad in Panama in 2025 with Alton High School, where she engaged with Indigenous communities. She is involved in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Senior Pearl Youth Group, the NAACP, and the National Council of Negro Women Youth Chapter.
Lacey plans to pursue a degree in mass communications with an emphasis in public relations at Clark Atlanta University.
“I am committed to using my voice, leadership, and education to advocate for others, inspire change, and make a lasting impact in my community and beyond,” she said.
