GODFREY - Vitality Women’s Clinic has several volunteer opportunities available.

Vitality Women’s Clinic is a pro-life, faith-based pregnancy center that works with individuals experiencing unplanned pregnancies. Executive Director Jackie Duty, Center Manager Lori Saunders, and long-time Vitality advocate Sandra explained that they are expanding their volunteer programs and looking for people who want to give back through their nonprofit.

When a patient comes to Vitality, they will undergo free STI and pregnancy screenings as well as an ultrasound. Vitality staff members will counsel these patients on their options — parenting, adoption, or abortion. Saunders noted that they encounter many “abortion-minded” patients and work to inform them about their choices.

“We’re not there to change their minds, necessarily. That’s between them and God. But we want them to hear all the options before they make that decision. We want to position ourselves to be the first place that a woman would find and come through in an unplanned pregnancy so that she can hear the truth,” Saunders said. “We just want them to have the full truth and be empowered to truly make that decision for themselves, whatever that is.”

Sandra sometimes shares her own testimony to help patients who are struggling. She had an abortion several years ago before she started work at Vitality. When she told Saunders, she expected to be fired.

But Saunders emphasized that Sandra was a great asset to the center. She encouraged Sandra to take Vitality’s post-abortive classes and join their support group, which Sandra did. Now, Sandra will engage with the patients on a new level, because she feels that she can help people this way.

“Working at the center brought out a lot of things for me that I thought I had healed from,” she said. “Every time I did share, it just healed me a little more and a little more each time. I thank God for sending me there.”

If this mission resonates with you, Duty pointed out there are several opportunities to join them. Their ambassador program includes an internship program and a marketing team position. They also have a “Street Team” that attends fairs and festivals in the community.

But Duty is most excited to introduce the Grandma Gang. This program encourages older women to “adopt” a Vitality patient and write letters to them encouraging them through their pregnancy. She noted that they have already received a few letters, and these grandmas are providing “a word of encouragement, a word of hope” to patients.

However you’d like to volunteer, you can start by filling out this form, and someone from Vitality will be in touch.

“Everyone is creating their own program within their networks or their groups, and we want it to be very organic. So whatever you feel led to do, we want to partner with you and just create a source of hope,” she said. “We want to build this in a way that we can lock arms with as many people as possible to just stir hope across the community.”

You can also purchase a variety of Vitality-branded items through Schwartzkofpt Printing, or order coffee through Seven Weeks Coffee to give 15% of your proceeds to Vitality. Duty, Saunders and Sandra are thankful for all support.
