BETHALTO — Mascoutah Varsity Indians rode a dominant pitching performance and a big day at the plate from Kinze Reese to a 10-0 shutout victory over Civic Memorial on Monday.

Jayce McLaurin and Brynn Korte combined to hold Civic Memorial scoreless, allowing just four hits all game. Korte sealed the win by inducing a groundout from Paige Winship for the final out.
Reese led the offensive attack with three hits in four at-bats, including singles in the third and fifth innings and a double in the seventh. Callie Kunz also collected three hits, while Shea Groves and Izzy Cortinas added multiple-hit performances.
Mascoutah broke through in the top of the third inning when Kunz singled to bring home the game’s first run. The Indians extended their lead with a five-run fifth inning fueled by Groves’ RBI double, RBI singles from Bailey Seibert and Cortinas, and a two-run single by Reese.
McLaurin started in the circle and was sharp, allowing just one hit over four scoreless innings while striking out three without issuing a walk. Korte handled the final three innings in relief, giving up three hits and striking out two.
Olivia Monroe took the loss for Civic Memorial after allowing 14 hits and nine runs over seven innings.
Mascoutah’s aggressive baserunning also played a key role, as the Indians stole 12 bases. McLaurin, Seibert, Reese, and Cortinas each swiped multiple bags. Mascoutah also turned a double play and played error-free defense, with Mikaela Fallon leading the way defensively with 11 chances.
For Civic Memorial, Winship, Monroe, Grace Burton, and Rheagan Rench each recorded one hit.
