“I felt good, I was happy with my time, 6:03 for the 1,600 meters at the East Alton-Wood River Quad," she said, as she was interviewed after the first place in that race. At that point, she said she hoped to beat the 6-minute mark soon in the 1,600 meters. She accomplished that shortly afterward in two meets.

Bella Redenius is a Byron, Carlson, Petri & Kalb Female Athlete Of The Month for the Griffins.

Redenius said she primarily focuses on middle-distance to longer races.

“I ran a 4 x 100 one time, so I am mostly middle-distance and distance," she said.

She said she "loves running a lot."

"I really enjoy cross country and competing in track and field in the 800 and 1,600-meter races," she said with much joy after the East Alton-Wood River victory.

Earlier this season, Redenius posted a personal record of 2:37.0 at a meet in Highland on March 31, then broke the 6-minute mark in the 1,600 the same day with a 5:53.0 time. She later won the 1,600 on April 17, 2026, at the Staunton Bulldogs vs. Cancer Invite in 5:47.32, her current personal best.

Redenius also finished second in the 1,500 at the Triad Distance Carnival on March 27, 2026, running 5:24.96, listed as a personal best. She ran 12:54.7 in the 3,200 on April 11, 2026, at the All-Catholic Invite.

At the East Alton-Wood River Quad, Redenius also won the 800 in 2:40.8. She has also run a leg of the 4x400 relay for the Griffins. Bella has great hopes for the remainder of the 2026 season as one of the Griffins' best in the middle- to distance races.
