
BREESE — Dalton Carriker delivered a dominant performance on the mound Tuesday, striking out 11 batters, but Roxana Shells came up just short in a 1-0 loss to Breese Central.

Carriker was strong through six innings, allowing just one run on six hits while walking one. The game remained scoreless until the sixth inning, when Breese Central broke through with an RBI single that proved to be the difference.
Breese Central starter Alex Athmer matched Carriker pitch for pitch, earning the win after tossing 6 2/3 shutout innings. Athmer gave up just three hits, struck out nine, and walked two. Bryce Wieter closed the door to pick up the save.
Roxana managed three hits on the day, with Max Autery, Keelan Crawford, and Logan Cox each recording one.
The Shells played clean defense behind Carriker, turning one double play and committing no errors.
Craig Schroeder paced Breese Central offensively, going 2-for-3 at the plate and driving in the game’s lone run.
