Southwestern-Marquette Boys-Girls Square Off In Five-Way Meet, Greenfield Wins Boys Division, North Greene Girls Competition

Explorers' Beaber stands out with wins in shot put and discus; Davenport, Cardinal shine for Marquette in girls meet.

Jack Beaber.PIASA - Southwestern's boys edged Marquette Catholic 99-82 in a five-way meet at Southwestern recently, but in the girls division, Marquette topped the Southwestern squad 93-79.

Greenfield-Northwestern won the boys meet with 109 points, and North Greene captured the girls meet with 95 points; Greenfield posted 59 points in the girls division.

Marquette's Jack Beaber, shown above, won the shot put (49-4.5) and discus (141-1, with the Explorers' Grady Dierking following (134-0). Jason Kyle Luly of Southwestern won the pole vault (7-0).

Jason Hoots of Greenfield and Southwestern's Cason Robinson were one-two in the 100 meters with times of 12.12 and 12.29.

Hoots and Southwestern's John Simons were one-two in the 200 meters (24.57 and 25.43). Hoots won the 400 (55.24) with Braden Nash closely behind (58.95).

Southwestern's Thor Springman won the 800 (2:06.45), followed by teammate Chase Kallal (2:09.30).

Kallal won the 1,600 (4:57.03), followed by Carson Klasner of Marquette (5:19.21). Kallal won the 3,200 (11:00.00).

Carter Chapman of Greenfield won the 110 hurdles (17.14), closely followed by Kaden Matuska of Southwestern (17.34).

Matuska won the 300 hurdles (44.89).

Greenfield won the 4 x 100 relay (46.52), Southwestern won the 4 x 200 relay (1:38.99), and the 4 x 400 relay (3:47.43).

Greenfield won the 4 x 800 relay (10:18.86), closely followed by Marquette (10:18.95).

Marquette's Elias Alderibigbe won the long jump with a leap of 19-3.

Marquette's Jami Jones continued to be dominant in the shot put, winning with a toss of 32-8. She was third in the discus (61-6), behind Kaylee Joiner of Greenfield (86-2) and Briann Anderson of Southwestern (82-0).

Bria Bushnell of North Greene won the high jump (4-10), and Ari Davenport of Marquette was second (4-8). Reese Rimbey of Southwestern won the long jump (13-5).

Karly Davenport, a standout for Marquette all last season, dominated the triple jump (33-1). The Explorers expect big things from her in the 2026 season in the sprints, relays, and jumps. Kaylynn Mitchell was second with a jump of 28-7 from Southwestern.

Wynter Robeen won the 100 meters for North Greene (13.85), followed by Bria Bushnell (14.16) of the Spartans.

Robeen won the 200 (28.93).

Destiny Griffiths of Greenfield won the 400 (1:07.93).

Caroline Cardinal of Marquette was the winner in the 800 (2:53.33).

Audrey Vollintine of Southwestern won the 1,600 (7:10.07).

Cardinal won the 3,200 (15:49.44), and Vollintine was second (16:05.67).

Ari Davenport of Marquette won the 100 hurdles (18.81), followed by Destiny Griffiths of Greenfield (18.92).

Reese Rimbey of Southwestern won the 300 hurdles (56.34). Summer Coates of North Greene was second (56.50).

Marquette won the 4 x 100 relay with Bassett, Hannigan, Davenport, and Blocker (54.39).

North Greene won the 4 x 200 relay (1:54.05). North Greene won the 4 x 400 relay (5:23.72). Marquette's 4 x 800 relay won with a time of 12:52.05. Downey, Raycraft, Stabinsky and Cardinal were on that team.
