Breese Central struck first, but Roxana answered in the bottom of the fourth when Logan Cox ripped a single on an 0-2 count to put the Shells on the board and spark the comeback.
Crump was sharp on the mound for Roxana, earning the win after allowing four hits and three runs, only two of them earned, across six innings. He struck out five and walked two while helping keep Breese Central’s offense in check. Bradley Herrin came on in relief and shut the door to collect the save.
At the plate, Roxana pounded out 10 hits. Keelan Crawford, Nick Miles, and Lyndon Thies each finished with two hits to lead the offense, while Crump and Cox both drove in two runs apiece.
Bryce Wieter took the loss for Breese Central after surrendering six runs on 10 hits over four and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking one.
Conlan Haar paced Breese Central with two RBIs, while the Cougars also got a strong performance from their number nine hitter, who collected two hits in three at-bats.
