According to the April 28, 2026 City Council agenda, dump stickers sales are underway at Jerseyville City Hall, and the newest round of stickers will remain valid until April 30, 2027. Dump permit holders are required to show proof of residency using either a valid driver’s license or current utility bill.
Recycling guidelines have now been posted to the City of Jerseyville website under the “Waste Management Facility” section of the Public Works page. These guidelines state recyclables should never be bagged – instead, they should be emptied of any food and liquid and placed in a designated Republic Service recycling cart.
Only flattened cardboard, paper, metal cans, plastic bottles and jugs, cartons, and glass should be placed in the recycling cart. Several items should never be placed inside the cart, including electronics and batteries, plastic bags and wrappers, greasy pizza boxes, clothing and shoes, food, toys, tools, diapers, scrap metal, construction waste, medical waste, and more.
Further guidelines on what and how to recycle are available on the city website, from Republic Services, or on www.recyclingsimplified.com. Related items appear on the agenda for the next Jerseyville City Council meeting on April 28, 2026, including:
Discussion and possible motion to approve an ordinance amending Jerseyville City Code, Title 5 Health, Sanitation And Environment, Chapter 2, Solid Waste.
Discussion and possible motion to approve an intergovernmental agreement between the City of Jerseyville and Jersey County establishing policies and procedures regarding recycling.
This comes two weeks after county officials approved a recycling partnership with the city and nearly one month after City Council members approved a three-year, non-exclusive contract with Republic Services for trash hauling and single-stream recycling on March 31, 2026.
Major changes to the prices and structure of city dump stickers were also approved at the March 31 meeting, raising yearly dump fees to $275 for city residents and $300 for newly allowed county residents. Stickers have also been split into two categories, including full-price “full service” stickers for trash, yard waste, and recycling, and $20 “recycling only” stickers which only cover recycling services through Republic.
